Now
Written February 22, 2026, from my apartment on the Plateau Mont-Royal (Montréal / Tiohtià:ke)
I've been ill since November 2024, which knocked my entire 2025 wildly off-course. There are a lot of ups and downs with chronic illness: I'm doing my best to white-knuckle my way through the worst of it. I don't exactly know what my heading is right now, but I'm slowly, very slowly, trying to get back up.
My current priorities:
- Work on getting back to a daily writing practice (I have two fiction WIPs that are in dire need of attention)
- Get strong enough to walk my dog unassisted
- Get back into reading lots of books (📚 follow along on Mille feuilles if you want granular, Goodreads-type updates)
- Get back into photography, especially community photography
- Update & clean up this blog
- Last but certainly not least: figure out what the hell I'm supposed to do in terms of like, having a job and paying rent (if you can hear incoherent screaming in the distance, that's me) when one is saddled with a set of disabilities that are inexorably and continuously resetting time bombs that can knock me out for 14 months at a time
Writing Progress
I try to send out updates about my writing progress about every fortnight or so. (Last updated 27 June 2025.)
Halfmoon (Novel, Outline a mess – so this max wordcount will absolutely increase): 8466 words / 33500 words
Sapphire (Novel, Outline Complete): 4000 words / 75 k words
